Busan provides the backdrop to many famous Korean TV dramas. The colourful houses of Gamcheon Culture Village are great for capturing a more traditional look. Jangsado Island is also less than an hour away, and in spring this area is full of flowers in bloom for a romantic look.

Frequently Asked Questions

How easy is it to get permits?

If you’re looking to close off the streets of Seoul, please be aware this is impossible and is better filmed when the city’s streets are less busy on the weekend. Otherwise, permits usually take 3-7 days for everywhere else in Korea.

Do I need a visa or work permit?

It’s completely dependent on your country of origin, so please do check with your local embassy before you fly. The government of South Korea might even offer incentives for foreign productions.

Can I hire equipment once there?

There’s a wide variety of standard and specialised equipment available in Korea, including specific tools such as techno cranes and heli-mounts for large-scale scenes.

What is the climate like?

Generally speaking, there is a four-season climate, but Korea does have a rainy season, which takes place between July and August and it’s the hottest time of the year. December – February is the coldest month and the best times to film is their spring and autumn seasons, which are mild and usually dry.
