Filming In Israel

LOGO NEEDAFIXER

Israel has long been used as a location for filming biblical epics, especially around the Holy Land where you’ll find vast deserts and ancient architecture. The capital of Tel Aviv is modern and high rise, while smaller cities such as Haifa are more traditional. With long stretches of pretty coast and dramatic desert landscapes, the country is often used as a stand-in for other Middle Eastern locations where filming might not be possible.

Some of Our Work in Israel

Filming in Israel

It’s usually straightforward to get permits to film in Israel, and as long as you’re not filming near a military base, it’ll take no more than a couple of weeks. Visas can be trickier, however.

Depending on your nationality it can either be a quick process or one that takes a while. If you’ve visited a Muslim country and had your passport stamped, this can also delay entering the country. Fortunately, NEEDaFIXER ISRAEL can advise on the paperwork your cast and crew will need, ensuring that you can start the production on time.

NEEDaFIXER has an extensive network of contacts who work in the film industry and can provide a full or partial crew for your production. You may need camera operators or sound technicians, producers and directors, or runners and hair and makeup specialists.

Whatever your requirements, we can arrange for them to be at the set, ready to film on the day. Because Israel is an Arri based country, you may want Panavision equipment imported for your production. We can ensure all the equipment you need is ready to go, and can even provide drones for dramatic shots.

If you are filming in Israel and need a cast, we can put together information on suitable actors, including showreels. This allows you to make casting decisions before you even arrive and means you can choose between a diverse range of actors.

Israel has long been a popular filming location and is often a stand-in for surrounding countries where filming might not be possible. NEEDaFIXER ISRAEL has excellent local knowledge and can help you pick locations that are safe and suitable for your production.

Major movie productions such as Rambo III and Not Without My Daughter was filmed in the country, while TV shows such as Homeland and Tyrant have recently used various locations around Israel.

Fixers in Israel

Tel Aviv has been host to a diverse range of film productions. In the TV show Homeland, a market in Tel Aviv was turned into a Beirut bazaar, and the city was used in movies such as Batman Forever and You Don’t Mess with the Zohan.

The Kfar Sava region in the north looks quite traditional, with palm trees and red-roofed houses, and it was the backdrop for the TV show Tyrant, representing a fictional Middle Eastern country. Rambo III was set mostly in Afghanistan but used filming locations across Israel, including the pretty ancient city of Jaffa.

What can our fixers in Israel do for you?

Popular Israeli Filming Locations

Tel Aviv

The city has a mixture of modern and traditional filming locations, allowing for a wide range of productions to take place. Movies filmed here include The Debt, and the city was used to film TV shows Homeland and Tyrant.

If you’re searching for a cultural location, it doesn’t get much better than Tel Aviv. There’s an extensive collection of Bauhaus art, and the city is a symbol of resilience and determination as many Holocaust survivors chose to make it their home.

Jaffa

This ancient city makes up the southern area of Tel Aviv and has beautiful beaches and palm tree-lined streets. It was seen in the movie Rambo III and TV miniseries The Promise. It’s an excellent location for historical TV shows and feature films, because of the rich religious history at every corner.

Eilat

Set on the Red Sea, this modern port town is surrounded by mountains. It was used as a location for Rambo III and several episodes of the Canadian TV show Sweating Bullets. It’s also a popular filming location for many domestic movies.

The landscape and crystal blue sea are stunning, and they’re a favourite for production companies to film on because Eilat is one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Do I need a visa or work permit?

Everyone that wants to film in Israel needs a work permit, but a shorter stay means there’s less red tape to go through. For people shooting films, they can submit a permit request and receive the decision quickly.

Can I hire equipment once there?

Israel is a great place to hire equipment, and our production services cover everything from planning to post-production. We can help you find the right equipment for your needs, and guarantee a professional approach to your shoot.
