What turned metro Atlanta into a top-five global production centre is its purpose-built stage capacity. The flagship is Tyler Perry Studios, set on the historic 330-acre former Fort McPherson army base in southwest Atlanta — a campus of twelve sound stages, backlots and a standing town set that makes it one of the largest studio operations owned by a single filmmaker anywhere.
South of the city in Fayetteville sits Trilith Studios, formerly Pinewood Atlanta Studios until its 2020 rebrand — a 700-acre complex with more than thirty soundstages and a 400-acre backlot, where much of the Marvel slate (from Ant-Man through Avengers: Endgame) was filmed in Georgia. It is the largest purpose-built studio facility in the state.
Closer in, EUE/Screen Gems transformed the old Lakewood Fairgrounds into a 33-acre, eleven-soundstage campus that helped kick-start the modern Atlanta boom when it opened in 2010. Productions filmed across these lots — including Stranger Things and The Hunger Games series — anchor a wider network of independent stages and vendors. NEEDaFIXER books stage space, manages builds and coordinates the suppliers around them.
Georgia’s incentive is the single biggest reason the entertainment industry consolidated here. The state’s film programme is run by the Georgia Film Office, part of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, which certifies eligible projects, runs the Camera Ready county-liaison network and is the official first point of contact for incoming Georgia film and television work.
The credit is created by the Georgia Entertainment Industry Investment Act. A production that spends at least $500,000 on qualified Georgia expenditures earns a 20% base transferable tax credit; an additional 10% uplift is available when the production embeds the Georgia promotional logo in its finished credits, for a headline 30%. The credit is fully transferable — productions with no Georgia tax liability can sell it to Georgia taxpayers — and there is no annual programme cap and no per-project cap, which is what makes the tax incentive workable for the largest studio productions. NEEDaFIXER advises on qualifying spend, scheduling and the documentation the audit requires.

The looks above are the core of the city, but greater Atlanta reaches far past the downtown grid. Decatur and Agnes Scott give you collegiate-Gothic and small-town squares; the suburbs of Fayetteville, Senoia and Covington (long-standing doubles for small-town America) sit a short drive south and east; and the metro Atlanta road and airport network means a unit can stage out of one base and reach period streets, modern office towers, forest and lake all in the same shooting week. NEEDaFIXER scouts and permits across the whole region.
Fifteen years of continuous production have left metro Atlanta with one of the deepest below-the-line crew pools in the country — heads of department, grips, electricians, art and wardrobe who work year-round rather than fly in. That resident film community, paired with the local equipment-rental market and the studio ecosystem, is why a production can crew up locally instead of importing a unit. We hire Atlanta-based crew across every department and plug your shoot straight into the city’s entertainment industry.
